Winter Activities

Instead of hiding indoors during the colder months, you can get outside and enjoy the snow and ice! You can watch an ice racing event, take an exciting ride down the tubing hill, ice fish for dinner, or hike deep into the snowy woods. Find your winter wonderland in the Bays de Noc area!

Great Lakes Ice Racing

Watch racers fly by on the fresh ice track or try racing for yourself! People gather on the Escanaba River in Gladstone every Sunday during winter to take part in Ice Racing. Racers add studs to their tires for more grip on this slippery track. You can bring any ORV vehicle that you have and want to race and they’ll find a place for you in a race. Learn more about the races by clicking here.

Ice Fish

Head for the ice on Lake Michigan to catch some dinner or a trophy fish. We have helpful bait shops that are here to help you with all your ice fishing needs. For more information on Ice Fishing in the area, click here.

Silent Sports

Relax in the woods surrounded by snow covered trees while staying active. There are a couple groomed places to get your skiing fix during the winter months. You can cross-country ski, downhill ski, fat tire bike, skate ski, snow tube, snowboard, or snowshoe. For ideas of where to have fun while doing your favorite winter activity, click here.
